Donette Alonzo, PhD

Data Collector/Recruiter, More Than A Dream

Donette is a critical member of the LNESC KC team, she leads the More Than a Dream project which promotes healthy lifestyle choices for Latino children.  She has helped us recruit and track more than 500 families in the Kansas City area.

Dedicating the past five years to Donnelly College, Donette Alonzo has served in the higher education arena for the past 16 years. As Vice President of Student Affairs at Donnelly, she refined her expertise in diversity, teaching, and multicultural leadership.  She addressed student issues outside of the class, and implemented strategies to increase retention.

Ms. Alonzo is passionate about helping students achieve their dreams and thoroughly enjoys interacting with students.  She has always enjoyed going to school, so it seemed natural to pursue her position. Throughout her career, she has attributed her success to having great mentors, who have encouraged her over the years. In her free-time, she volunteers with a health project in Guatemala.  She is an inspiration and role model for many of our students.

Ms. Alonzo earned a Master’s Degree in Integrated Humanics and Education from Rockhurst University, and recently completed her PhD at University of Missouri – Kansas City.
